We are a community organisation that supports people by raising awareness of spiritual care in mental health recovery.

An important part of this work includes promoting respect for people’s beliefs and practices from faith traditions other than our own. This includes those beliefs of people who claim no religious affiliation, but nonetheless affirm themselves as spiritual beings.

Below is also Ivor's last Chairman's Report which summarises some of the work done with Essex, Mind & Spirit which was discussed at our AGM on 16th March. Our new elected Chair for Essex, Mind & Spirit is Paul McNamara, who like Ivor, has many roles including the following! Paul McNamara M.B.A.C.P. Dip. Int. Therapeutic Counselling Spiritual Care Lead, Chaplaincy Team Lead. Chair of The Religion & Belief Staff Network NELFT NHS Foundation Trust Goodmayes Hospital Susanna Offor will now be leading the Mid-Essex EMS Cluster Group and will mainly be based at Farleigh Hospice where she is a Chaplain. The Steering Group, which in the past, was added onto the Mid Essex event will now be separated to it’s own meeting of the core members: namely our 4 Cluster Group Leads with anyone we co-opt onto the Steering Group. The next Mid Essex event will take the form of a Human Library event organised by Hannah Kelly, the new Chair of The Essex Faith Covenant in conjunction with Essex Mind & Spirit. More details to follow. It is a time of change, but one which we hope will both be a consolidation of all the past work under Ivor’s Chairmanship and yourselves, and a new chapter for EMS as we look to the future with hope and new energy to promote that important relationship between mental health and spirituality.
